Maldives police service briefing has finally confirmed Ishmeeth Singh’s death to be caused by drowning and they have also declared that he had an injury to his head and the bruise was approximately of 2 centimeters. In the press briefing given by the police to the media, Inspector Hassan Labeeb of serious and organized crime unit (SOCU) has reported that the famous singer and ultimate winner of star voice of india 2007 was declared dead at approximately 18:30 of the 29th july. Inspector Hassan Labeeb also said that Ishmeet Singh and his two friends joined the waters of the swimming pool at about 16:45.
“Ishmeet was egging his friends to go to the deep end of the pool. And when his friends denied, he decided to go by himself. At first he started to mock them acting as if he was drowning and until they panicked. The second time he just went a little deeper and really started to drown. This time his friends thought he was mocking them yet again. But when he went under and did not return his friends started screaming for help. It was just two common staff who heard them and jumped on time. Unfortunately they were also very weak swimmers and were unable to save him. Then hearing the screams and cries for help, it was a doctor and a tourist who jumped and pulled him out of the water. But by then it was too late.”
When asked about safety measures and whether there was a life guard at the swimming pool the police inspector replied that the swimming pool had huge boards surrounding it and on each of it was clearly written the terms on which it operated and that clearly specified that no life guard would be present.
Furthermore, the inspector also specified that the depth of the deeper end of the pool where ishmeet drowned would be 7 feet 6 inches and that the singer had an injury to his head of approximately 2 centimeters in size which they believed to be from hitting his head while he was drowning.
However Ishmeet Singh’s family and friends did not believe so. They accuse this incident to be a planned murder and according to them, they had valid reasons to believe so. Jealousy of fellow-contestants, conspiracy of professional singers or murder by some militant outfit were reasons they specified in their statements given to a famous news agency in India regarding the hapless death.
We are also reported that it is being prepared for a post mortem to be done on his dead body to confirm the doubts.
